A Message from our CEO, Trisha Cornwell

For 7 years, I served as the CEO of EMERGE, a Houston-based non-profit college access organization serving 3K students. When I started, I was a passionate (and single) 31 year old. I lived and breathed my work, easily spending 60+ hours per week growing the organization from 500K in revenue to close to 6MM+ when I resigned in 2022.

As the Board approved a plan to expand nationally, I knew I could not give the same amount of “capacity” needed to scale the organization to the next level without trading-off significant time with my family.

I started Capacity because I don’t think it has to be this way.

Unfortunately, for the majority of non-profit and small business leaders, it takes 40+ hours per week to run the current operation before introducing growth, new initiatives or service offerings. Finding time to dream, plan, optimize, develop and and upgrade organizational systems, team structures and policies for a future state seems nearly impossible without additional resources.

While most organizations do not have the space in their operating budget to add another full-time senior leader to the team, they typically have flexibility to add short-term fractional support through a season of growth, or change. This is where we come in.

At Capacity, we match short-term, high-quality leaders to fuel your organizational growth, fill short-term gaps and get important work off the ground. Our consultants serve in fractional roles, lead strategic planning and design projects as well as implement program and system redesigns, while our Project Managers are skilled executors experienced in implementation, support and training.

Let us help you add Capacity!

Best,

Trisha Cornwell

Jesse Hendrix, CEO College Possible–Texas

“As a first-year Executive Director, having a coach who has actually held this role was invaluable. Her insight, instincts and advice were always timely and relevant.”

CEO, Houston-based Non-Profit

“When our VP of Development left unexpectedly, I was worried about how we would meet our annual fundraising goal. Hiring Trisha from Capacity was a miracle. Her previous experience fundraising enabled her to jump right in, create a plan, navigate our donor database and manage our grant cycle. Having an experienced short-term leader for the team until I rehired for the role gave me the time to focus on our long-term strategy.”

Sandra Nuñez, Managing Director, Latinos for Education Reform

“The Capacity People Management Training was awesome! Having tools and tested frameworks to use with my direct reports has given me a sense of empowerment and up-leveled my performance as a manager. ”

Sarah Cottone, Content Team Leader @ Megawatt Content

“I’ve held management roles for a few years across different companies but never had the opportunity to take a formal management training. The Capacity management training on trust provided a perspective that changed the game for me. I now have frameworks to think and talk about trust that lets me be more intentional with my direct reports and manager. The training was very approachable and left me feeling more confident as a leader”
